Michael Formby will be the city’s new managing director, and his jobs have included city transportation director, state deputy transportation director and chief of staff to then-U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa; he’s even served a short stint as an interim City Council member. Formby’s expertise on the federal, state and county levels makes him uniquely qualified to help political novice Blangiardi navigate the labyrinthine processes of city governance. And the new team will need all kinds of savvy to boost Oahu residents through this coronavirus pandemic.
