Maui police investigate apparent drowning at Tavares Bay


Maui police are investigating the apparent drowning of a 69-year-old Haiku man at Tavares Bay in Paia Friday.

Firefighters responding to an 11:08 a.m. emergency call found the man floating face down in the shore break. Firefighters pulled the man out of the water and attempted CPR until paramedics arrived.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said an initial investigation found no signs of foul play.
