High surf advisory in effect until Monday morning

A high surf advisory for north- and east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, Hawaii island and Niihau is in effect Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The north-northeast swell will peak Sunday with waves from 10 to 15 feet along north-facing shores, and 6 to 10 feet along east-facing shores, forecasters said.

Ocean-goers should expect strong breaking waves, shore breaks, and longshore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous, they said.
