Hawaii County and Honolulu police are investigating head injuries to a 2-month-old Holualoa boy, who was flown to Oahu for medical treatment earlier this week.

Honolulu police were asked to assist in the investigation, involving the infant and a 32-year-old man.

Hawaii County police said that Child Welfare Services in Honolulu said the infant was taken by a family member to Kona Community Hospital on Tuesday night. The infant was then transferred to Queen’s Medical Center on Wednesday morning.

No other details were released by police. No arrests have been made.

The case is classified as a second-degree assault by Honolulu police and child abuse by Hawaii island detectives.
