Teen arrested for arson on Molokai


A teenage boy is accused of intentionally setting two brush fires in undeveloped land on Molokai, Maui County officials said.

Molokai firefighters responded to a brush fire last Thursday near Likelike Avenue around 10:06 a.m. When they arrived, there were two fires in the area.

Each fire burned an estimated of a quarter acre of land. 

The fires were contained within 30 minutes. 

Investigators revealed that the fires were intentionally set.

The 17-year-old was arrested for first-degree arson and third-degree arson.

No injuries or damages were reported.
