Makaha man charged after stabbing in Waianae

A 21-year-old Makaha man was charged with attempted assault after he allegedly stabbed a man near McDonald’s restaurant in Waianae on Wednesday, police said.

Initially, Chad Hopoate Teisina III was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder on Wednesday.

Emergency Medical Services said on Wednesday the 44-year-old victim was slashed on his back, arm and chest. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The call came at around 2:10 p.m. off Farrington Hwy. near W Hardware & Lumber Supply Co.

The charge was later reduced to first-degree attempted assault and first-degree robbery. Teisina’s ball was set at $100,000.

The suspect has also been arrested for theft in Nevada and convicted in 2012 on charges of resisting an officer, possessing an open liquor container and consuming alcohol as a minor.
