WASHINGTON » Donald Trump has lost only minimal support since the news broke about lewd comments he made 11 years ago, a poll released Sunday shows.

A Morning Consult/Politico survey taken Saturday found Trump with 38 percent support to Hillary Clinton’s 42 percent. Trump’s down from the 41-39 deficit he had on Oct. 5-6, just before the video surfaced Oct. 7.

The poll found 45 percent of voters said Trump should remain the race, while 39 percent wanted him out. Only 12 percent of Republicans said he should quit, despite increasing calls from party officials for him to leave. Trump has insisted he won’t.

Seventy-five percent of Republicans said GOP leaders should stand by Trump.

New CBS polling in Ohio and Pennsylvania had similar results. Fifty-four percent of Ohio voters and 51 percent of Pennsylvania voters said the news did little to change their view of Trump, and both states, generally 90 percent of Republicans said it did not change their view of him. There was a gender gap. In Pennsylvania, 53 percent of women and 42 percent of men said it made their view of Trump worse.

Trump is the correct VOTE to make America great again

America is still great. Trump will only shove us backwards. Probably have his insiders indicted while he is in office also. Trump is the party of ME! What’s in it for ME!

    • Allaha says:

I wished Trump would shove us backwards: To the time when we weren’t overrun by illegal immigrants.

You might have a point. Whenever I watch a John Wayne movie or Leave it to Beaver, I can’t help thinking what a great time in American history that was!

The problem is that in schools nowadays, they teach fake history like segregation, Jim Crow, homophobia, xenophobia, and that silly evolution notion. Trump will fix all of that, no problem. Make the World Flat Again!

        • Boots says:

And why was it great? It was after WWII and the tax rate could be as high as 90%. Today’s republicans would have a real fit if they were alive back then. lol

      • Boots says:

And when was that? Oh, for most of the history of the country where immigrants were not treated as criminals? Just remember prior to 1950 there were few laws dealing with immigrants.

After putting Hillary in jail, he’ll do something to “make Pence disappear’ because people respect his VP more than him. Then, to promote his master race plan, he’ll send the feeble-minded to concentration camps. Those will include more than half his basket of supporters. But they shouldn’t feel bad or surprised; he has a long history of stiffing contractors and taking advantage of his employees.

Fortunately, that should not happen. As he loses convincingly, he’ll go so far off the deep end, even some of his supporters will see what a nut job he is. Keep America Great Again!

The only poll that counts is on November 8. Until then who cares.

The polls showing that Trump lost little support after his lewd comments only confirms that Hillary was correct in her description of the “basket of deplorables”. If you’re in that basket, of course you’re not going to change your support of Trump despite his essential admission of committing sexual assaults on women. For deplorable people, committing sexual assaults is no big thing.

    • bumbai says:

No, it’s more of an indicator of how weak the attack on Trump was. Everyone knows he’s a jerk, this isn’t news, and an 11 year old tape of him talking cruddy adds nothing to the equation. Trump supporters are simply choosing a loud mouthed jerk over a lying manipulative crook.

    • MillionMonkeys says:

The disturbing thing is that about 20% of voters are under-educated “deplorables” who follow Trump blindly as he spouts out ridiculous statements one after another (the other half of the basket I assume are political supporters who figure a GOP prez will mean less taxes for them, maybe they have strong views on abortion, etc.).

After Clinton wins the election, the smart people running the country should come up with a plan to prevent another charlatan coming along and misleading the masses. Clinton should win, but this is too close for comfort!

In the last two days, there have been two significant events in the race. The first – the release of tapes where Trump brags about committing acts of sexual battery – reveals something important about the man’s character. The second – a reasonably effective debate performance against an unfit opponent – reveals that he retains a measure of his raw political talent. I suspect I know which of those events will be more important in the days ahead as GOP leaders allegedly rethink their public commitment to a reprehensible person.

All Trump did tonight was live to lose another day. He staunched enough bleeding to keep the opportunists, but he didn’t do anything meaningful to change the fundamental dynamics of the race. He did nothing to show Americans that he deserves to sit in the Oval Office.

Telling, as this is from uber right National Review, as even they clearly announce he is not fit for office.

How can his comments disturb anybody more than the way so many women nowadays painted and dress themselves like prostitutes?

  7. wrightj says:

The Hillary supporters can’t believe this; oh no, it can’t be true.
