Wet weather extends Likelike lane closure

The state has extended the 24-hour lane closure on a portion of Likelike Highway to Monday due to weather-related delays that will require more time for the installation of a catch basin.

The Honolulu-bound, right lane of the highway will now be closed at the Alu Street and Gulick Avenue intersections through Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation. Originally, the work was scheduled for completion through today. The lane will be open by 6 a.m. Monday.

Work in the vicinity of Gulick Avenue will be rescheduled to a later date.

Two lanes will remain open for through traffic at all times and motorists will still be able to turn onto Likelike Highway, during the closure, at the Alu Street/Likelike Highway intersection. Message boards will be posted to keep motorists informed.
