A 29-year-old Pahoa man was charged Saturday with burglarizing a Hilo business, Hawaii County police said.

Nicholas Blackwell was scheduled to appear in court today to be arraigned on a second-degree burglary charge.

Police said at 11:50 p.m. Thursday a man was seen in a parked pickup truck between a shipping container and a fence line of a business on Silva Street. Police found the fence cut and the door of the business open.

Blackwell was arrested at midnight Friday after police saw several items that were taken from the business in the bed of the truck he was in.

Anyone who witnessed the burglary or has any information about the case is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 935-3311 or Detective Tuck Loy Aurello at 961-2385 or email him here.
