A 76-year-old security guard died after he fell out of a golf cart at Harbor Center in Aiea when the motorized vehicle struck a building.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s identified the guard as William F. Aberilla of Kaneohe. An official cause of death is pending.

Police said a man later identified as Aberilla was sitting in a parked golf cart at the center, located at 98-025 Hekaha St., at about 8:20 a.m. Monday when he depressed the cart’s brake.

The motorized vehicle instead traveled forward and struck a building.

Police said Aberilla fell off the cart upon impact and struck his head on concrete.

Emergency Medical Services treated and transported him to a hospital in critical condition, where he died Wednesday.

Police said there are no signs of foul play.
