Captain Cook man charged with felonies in abuse case

Hawaii County police charged a 33-year-old Captain Cook man with felonies stemming from a domestic violence case.

Police on Sunday morning arrested Matthew M. Santos on suspicion of abuse of a family or household member for an incident that occurred Friday. Police did not provide details on the victim.

Detectives with the Area II Juvenile Aid Section charged Santos on Monday with second-degree assault, first-degree terroristic threatening and felony abuse of a family or household member.

Santos was later released, posting $6,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Kona Family Court on July 11.
