Chaminade volleyball earns NCAA Division II tournament berth

The Chaminade volleyball team plays Cal State San Bernardino in the NCAA West regional.

The Chaminade University women’s volleyball team earned a berth today to the NCAA Division II tournament.

The Silverswords (23-5) are seeded seventh in the West regional and will face second-seeded Cal State San Bernardino (26-2) on Thursday in Bellingham, Wash. San Bernardino is the nation’s top-ranked team.

San Bernardino, the three-time California Collegiate Athletic Association champion, has won its last eight matches. Punahou graduate Mehana Ma‘a is a freshman on the squad.

Chaminade finished third in the PacWest Conference with a 17-5 record. The Silverswords last made the regional tournament in 2004.

The eight-team regional runs through Saturday. Champions from the eight regional sites will advance to the finals site in Pittsburgh.
