Hawaii Kai man charged in New Year’s Eve burglary

Police have charged a 27-year-old Hawaii Kai man in connection with a burglary and assault last New Year’s Eve.

Police say Shane Uyeda forced his way into a Kealahou Street apartment and threatened and assaulted an 86-year-old man.

Uyeda was arrested on Friday and charged Saturday with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.

His bail was set at $20,000.
