Occupants escape injury after eucalyptus tree falls on Wahiawa home

Two women and an infant boy escaped injury when a 100-foot eucalyptus tree fell on a home in Wahiawa this morning.

Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Terry Seelig said the incident occurred at 8:42 a.m. on Cypress Avenue near Lake Wilson. The eucalyptus tree fell on a two-bedroom home. The male infant, who normally sleeps in the bedroom where the tree fell, was not in the room at the time.

The tree also damaged several storage sheds on an adjoining property.

Seelig said the home is not habitable because of extensive damage to the roof. The American Red Cross is assisting the three adults and two children who live in the home.

An estimate of damages had not been determined.
