A 30-year-old Manoa woman entered a plea of not guilty Tuesday to charges that she tried to kill a 73-year-old woman in a Waikiki parking garage.

Jill Anjuli Hansen is charged with second-degree attempted murder after she followed Elizabeth Conklin into a secured parking garage at Diamond Head Apartments and allegedly hit Conklin with her car as Conklin got out of her vehicle on May 14.

Hansen also is charged with unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and attempted unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Hansen was arraigned in Circuit Court on Tuesday morning via closed circuit video link with Oahu Community Correctional Center.

She is in custody on $1 million bail.

Circuit Judge Richard Perkins assigned the case to Circuit Judge Ed Kubo, setting trial for the week of July 28.

Hansen was indicted by an Oahu grand jury on May 20.

Police said Hansen struck Conklin with a Volkswagen sedan. Then, while Conklin was partially wedged under another vehicle parked in the garage, Hansen allegedly tried to hit her again. She reversed her vehicle and accelerated toward Conklin but was unable to strike her because of the woman’s position under the vehicle.

Hansen’s third attempt to hit Conklin failed when a maintenance technician, Christopher Khoury, shattered Hansen’s rear car window with a crowbar.

Conklin said in an interview with the Star-Advertiser that she believes Hansen may have tried to kill her to steal her car, a 2014 BMW 328i station wagon.

On May 19, while still in custody, Hansen apparently attempted to exit the intake area at the Oahu Community Correctional Center by trying to slip behind a staffer who was walking through the door that leads to the sally port, the secured entryway where vans pull in.

Prison staff members were able stop her before she left the intake area.

On her Facebook page, Hansen said she is a professional longboard surfer and model. She’s also profiled on the Association of Surfing Professionals Hawaii website.
