Pedestrian dies from injuries sustained in Waianae accident
A 79-year-old man died today from injuries sustained when he was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Farrington Highway in Waianae a day earlier.
According to police, the man was walking in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound truck driven by a 60-year-old man.
The victim was transported in serious condition to an area hospital, where he later died.
This is the 19th traffic-related fatality of the year on Oahu, compared to 20 at the same time last year.

It’s unsaid by this article whether a traffic signal or crosswalk light was adhered to, but in any case, a marked crosswalk only tells you where to cross the street, not whether you should cross in any and all situations. Whatever the circumstances of this accident, my condolences to the deceased’s family.
DELTA DAG… A marked crosswalk is were pedestrians cross. When occupied traffic is suppose to stop and let the person cross. It does not give traffic the right to speed up and not let the person cross. When occupied traffic is suppose to stop and let the pedestrian cross not speed up. Too many idiots behind the wheel.
