Two Kailua-Kona men are scheduled to appear in court Monday in connection with a string of burglaries and stolen vehicles over a two-week period in Kona, Big Island police said.
Luke K. Wong, 36, was charged today with five counts of burglary, auto theft, three counts of breaking into a vehicle, and second-degree theft. His bail was set at $175,000.
Kaulike F.M. Rice, 29, was charged today with three counts of auto theft and resisting arrest. His bail was set at $31,000.
Responding to an anonymous tip, patrol officers found Wong and Rice at Makalawena Beach Road in North Kona about 11:55 a.m. Wednesday.
The men were driving a stolen Dodge Dakota pickup and a stolen Toyota Tacoma pickup, police said.
Inside the pickups, officers found property connected with other crimes reported between Sept. 1 and 15 in North Kona.
