U.S.: Clinton calendars won’t be released until after election

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton looked up to audience members as she left a campaign event at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nev. on Thursday.

WASHINGTON >> Seven months after a federal judge ordered the State Department to begin releasing monthly batches of the detailed daily schedules showing meetings by Hillary Clinton during her time as secretary of state, the government told The Associated Press it won’t finish the job before Election Day.

The department has so far released about half of the schedules. Its lawyers said in a phone conference with the AP’s lawyers that the department now expects to release the last of the detailed schedules around Dec. 30, weeks before the next president is inaugurated.

The AP’s lawyers late Friday formally asked the State Department to hasten that effort so that the department could provide all Clinton’s minute-by-minute schedules by Oct. 15. The agency did not immediately respond.

The schedules drew new attention this week after the AP analyzed the ones released so far. The news agency found that more than half the people outside the government who met or spoke by telephone with Clinton while she was secretary of state had given money — either personally or through companies or groups — to the Clinton Foundation. The AP’s analysis focused on people with private interests and excluded her meetings or calls with U.S. federal employees or foreign government representatives.

The AP’s reporting was based on official calendars covering Clinton’s entire term plus the more-detailed daily schedules covering roughly half her time as secretary of state. The AP first asked for Clinton’s calendars in 2010 and again in 2013. It then sued the State Department in federal court to obtain the detailed schedules, and the department so far has provided about half of them under court order.

Clinton has said the AP’s analysis was flawed because it did not account fully for all meetings and phone calls during her entire term as secretary. She also said the analysis should have included meetings with federal employees and foreign diplomats. The AP said it focused on her meetings with outsiders because those were more discretionary, as Clinton would normally meet with federal officials and foreign officials as part of her job.

Clinton said she met with people outside government regardless of whether they gave money or charitable commitments to her family’s charity.

“These are people I would be proud to meet with, as any secretary of state would have been proud to meet with, to hear about their work and their insights,” Clinton said this week on CNN.

With the foundation drawing continued attention, Clinton promised Friday to put in place additional safeguards to prevent conflicts of interest with the charity should she win the White House.

The foundation issue, along with continued focus on her use of a private email server, has dogged Clinton politically throughout the week, drawing strong criticism from opponent Donald Trump.

Former President Bill Clinton said last week that if she is elected president, the foundation will no longer accept foreign or corporate donations.

The State Department is now estimating there are about 2,700 pages of schedules left. Under its process, it is reviewing and censoring them page-by-page to remove personal details such as private phone numbers or email addresses. In some cases it has censored names of people who met privately with Clinton or the subjects they discussed.

A State Department spokeswoman, Elizabeth Trudeau, declined to discuss the ongoing case and noted the agency is struggling with thousands of public records requests.

In court, the AP in December had asked U.S. District Judge Richard Leon to order the State Department to produce specific percentages of the remaining schedules every 30 days under a formula so that all would be released before the presidential primary elections were complete.

Instead, because the State Department said it did not know how many pages were left, Leon ordered it in January to release at least 600 pages of schedules every 30 days. Each 600-page group covers about three months of Clinton’s tenure.

Under the present rate, a government attorney working on behalf of the State Department notified the AP’s lawyers, it will take about four and one-half months — or until Dec. 30 — to release all the remaining schedules through the end of Clinton’s term, in February 2013. The government’s notice late Thursday was the first time the State Department has provided the AP with a measure of how many pages were remaining and when it expected to complete the job.

It was unclear whether the judge will reconsider his earlier decision and order faster results. In the AP’s lawsuit over other Clinton-related files, Leon has said it would be “ridiculous” to allow the State Department to delay until even weeks before the election. He also cited “mounting frustration that this is a project where the State Department may be running out the clock.”

    How convenient…

Everyone knows that not only the entire media is working to elect Clinton, but the administration as well. America is lost. Freedom and individuality are about to be part of history, and the left acts like its proud.

      • Boots says:

Fact is Clinton is the only candidate that stands a real chance of winning. it is pathetic that you republicans have abandoned republican values and are now voodoo practitioners. A real pity.

America is not lost. It will only be lost is a clown becomes president of the United States. Fortunately this is very unlikely to happen.

        • lespark says:

It is pathetic that you democrats have abandoned honesty and support a candidate with more questions than answers in all regards.

The U.S. could resettle nearly one million immigrants from the Muslim world under one term of a Hillary Clinton presidency, according to projections from Center for Immigration Studies’ Steve Camarota.
Camarota explained that this large expansion in Muslim migration would be part of a massive increase in overall immigration, which the U.S. could experience under a President Hillary Clinton. Camarota noted that Clinton could potentially add as many as 10 million new immigrants to the U.S. during her first term alone, on top of the millions of illegal immigrants to whom she would grant immediate amnesty.

Camarota’s analysis is based on recent data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Census Bureau. According to the most recent DHS available data, nearly 150,000 immigrants from the Muslim world permanently resettled in the U.S. in 2014. He explained:

    • Boots says:

Yes vote for the person that gave the public Trump University. Like someone once said, there is a sucker born every minute. Should the Donald become president, he would take corruption to new highs, just like GW and Uncle Ron did.

      • lespark says:

Laureate University is pay for play. Should Crooked Hillary become President she will take corruption to new highs far surpassing what she did as Secretary of State.

  3. CEI says:

No question about it. The fix is in, Hillary will be coronated in January. The various top level government agencies – State Dept, IRS, DOJ, EPA, DoD, Education, etc. have been corrupted beyond redemption. Elites in Washington (democrat and republican) will continue their blood-sucking ways. The concentration of power in Washington will increase, personal freedom and individuality will evaporate. Hillary will rule by fiat “short-circuiting” congress by issuing executive orders like Barry has done. The 1st and 2nd amendments to the constitution and indeed the constitution itself will be written off as outdated and unnecessary. The totalitarian horrors of George Orwell’s 1984 will be realized. All this is happening while an apathetic, reality show watching, social media addicted electorate and the higher educated snobbery who should know better allow it to happen.

5 Points On Trump’s Indictment Of Clinton As A Lying, Scheming Criminal

In between “Lock her up!” chants from the crowd, Donald Trump ramped up his rhetoric at a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Thursday afternoon, painting Hillary Clinton as lying, corrupt, and running the State Department as a criminal enterprise.

“Hillary Clinton’s actions constitute all of the elements of a major criminal enterprise,” he told the crowd.

Trump has accused Clinton of criminality for weeks, in a series of unusually direct and unreserved attacks by a major party nominee. But Thursday’s speech was a more comprehensive indictment that linked five separate lines of attack: Clinton’s meeting with Clinton Foundation donors as secretary of state, her use of a private email server, her speeches to Wall Street, the Benghazi attack, and Trump’s claims that the November election is rigged

        Wall Street Speeches
Trump began his indictment of Clinton by describing himself as self-funded and painting Clinton as in the pocket of Wall Street. He noted that Clinton was paid for speeches at Wall Street banks after she finished her tenure as secretary of state.

“In this fight, we are taking on some very entrenched and well-financed interests. Money is pouring into her campaign,” Trump said, referring to Clinton. “These are the same people who pay Hillary $10,000 dollars a minute for a speech.”

“These are the Wall Street firms who paid Hillary Clinton a quarter of a million dollars each time she delivered her secret remarks,” he added.

        The Clinton Foundation
Over the past week, Trump has latched onto newly released emails showing that the foundation asked for Clinton to meet with prominent foundation donors while she was secretary of state. During his Thursday speech, Trump used his harshest rhetoric yet to describe the reports on Clinton’s meetings as secretary of state, called her a criminal.

“The voters have always known that our leadership in Washington D.C. is corrupt, and that the system is very badly rigged,” he said in New Hampshire. “But this week the curtain was truly lifted. The corruption was revealed for all to see. The veil was pulled back on a vast criminal enterprise run out of the State Department by Hillary Clinton.”

Trump said that Clinton Foundation donors “are people that want things for their donation.”

He said that Clinton “ran the State Department like a personal hedge fund.”

“It is hard to tell where the Clinton Foundation ends, and where the State Department begins,” he said. “Access and favors were sold for cash. It’s called Pay-For-Play.”

Trump listed the entities he claims received favorable treatment from Clinton at the State Department:

The examples are too many to name here in full, and I’ve gone over some in recent days. They include the deal to sell 20 percent of U.S. Uranium to Russia, or the favorable treatment for UBS. … It includes the exemption of Telecom Giant Ericsson from government sanctions. It includes efforts to put a Foundation donor – with no national security experience at all – onto a highly-sensitive national security panel with access to top secret information. It includes Foundation donors getting lucrative contracts in Haiti – all while the people of Haiti suffered horribly.
        Bill Clinton Profited
Trump also claimed that Clinton used her position at the State Department to help her family financially. While alleging that Clinton did favors for foundation donors, Trump said that Clinton’s dealings at the State Department helped her husband.

“Bill Clinton’s total speaking fees rose 44 percent while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State – often raking in money from people who had business or matters before the State Department,” Trump said.

        The Email Server
The main narrative Trump has used throughout the campaign to attack Clinton as corrupt is Clinton’s decision to use a private email server while she worked for the State Department. The Republican nominee touched on this during his speech on Thursday.

“She created a private illegal email server in order to hide her corrupt dealings. She did so knowing full well it would put American lives at risk by making classified information highly vulnerable to foreign hacking,” he said, adding that she deleted emails from the server to “cover up her crime.”

He accused Clinton of deleting emails to hide the fact that she “sold her office to corporations and foreign governments.”

        Perjury!

Trump also claimed that Clinton lied about her private email server to cover up her corruption.
“As a further element of the criminal cover-up, she claimed under penalty of perjury that she turned over all of her work related emails. We now know this to be one more massive Clinton lie and deception,” he said on Thursday. “The FBI found thousands of work-related emails she failed to turn over, including the new discovery this week of 15,000 more work-related emails she did not disclose.”

Cover-Up. These Clintons are absolutely unbelievable!

  6. CEI says:

There is a very good program on the CNBC network called American Greed. They highlight fraudsters, ponzi schemers, con men and other greedy criminals. It occured to me that a segment on the Clinton Crime Family would probably be entertaining as well as instructional. But there are 2 reasons why you’ll never see it. 1. The NBC network is whole hog in the tank for the Clintons. 2. Even if they did do a segment they would need a whole season just to scratch the surface. Then they would need another season just to sort ID and sort out the “johns”.

  7. South76 says:

The government knows someone is going to court to open up documents and they did nothing…it gave the excuse that these documents will not be released until after the election….here we go, fudging the data so as to not incriminate anyone who have done something wrong….I never liked wikileak but I am hoping something is put out there before the election, so people can see how corrupt and politicized the government has become.

    • nalogirl says:

Great post, something you will never see on SA. It is hard to believe that with everything that has come out about Clinton the people still will vote for her. She should be in prison.

  8. CEI says:

I listened to the speech, it was written well and the delivery was mostly good, albeit a load of horse hockey. But…when she raises her voice it reminds me of my ex-wife browbeating me and generally making my life miserable. I think that Bill’s philandering was/is fundamentally wrong but I have to empathize with him a little bit. After all, imagine going home expecting dinner on the table, a smile and a little femininity and getting an angry, screeching Hillary Clinton instead. Yikes!!!

    • CEI says:

Oops, I intended to post this on a different article. I’ve been having a little trouble with my private server so I have a good excuse. But I think the point was made.

  9. lespark says:

It’s a crying shame the Republican establishment contInue to knowingly disregard this election. If Trump loses they all lose. They don’t get it. As distasteful as they think he is what do they have to lose? Everything.

  10. Boots says:

It would be nice if the republicans used this as a reason for public financing of elections but sadly they won’t. It is not like Hillary is the only one that does this. I wonder if Hillary is going to ask for the release of schedules of republicans in congress who spend many hours soliciting money. I wonder how many of those people meet with republican candidates. Of course democrats in congress do the same thing but the point is the system is corrupt and needs to be replaced by Voter owned elections. Sadly I suspect only Jill would favor this.

  11. lespark says:

I don’t need to see any more calendars. It’s obvious a cover up is in the making. The contradiction is if there was nothing amiss why close the Clinton Foundation? Impropriety then and impropriety now.
Lock her up and don’t vote for her. Problem solved.

  12. americantaxpayer says:

Not sure what’s more dangerous to our democracy and way of government; Hillary’s lack of truthfulness, the State Department’s avoiding the truth or evading critical questions, the FBI and Department of Justice have two codes of ethics and tolerance, one for the average citizen and another for the rich, and let’s not forget the IRS hiding emails, taking the fifth while targeting republicans.

    • peanutgallery says:

We are living with the most corrupt administration this country has ever seen. Barrack, like the Clintons, is one of the biggest prevaricators of all time. Along with the media, this administration will do everything it can to get Clinton elected. Just look at what the Fed chair said yesterday. It’s absolute lunacy, but the average American today is pretty dumb, and believes anything they hear, or see, from media. Don’t forget; we’ve had over 35 years of progressives running education. They’ve done their job. Doubt it? 95% of public high school graduates in Hawaii, like most states, aren’t capable of college work. Progressives don’t care. They want them for another 4 years, and they get’m. The brainwashing continues unabated. Just read the comments from erhornp, aka (boots).

  13. Ronin006 says:

If Hillary wins the election, the first order of business for the Republican-led House of Representatives should be impeachment hearings.

  14. CEI says:

I’ve never been a fan of posting links to articles to support my position but I thought this one was quite telling. It’s the same article above but posted on Yahoo News. Last time I checked, Yahoo news was not right or alt-right leaning. It’s where millennial go to get their news. Anyway, what’s interesting are the comments of which there are 91 right now. Almost all of them are anti-Hillary with a few anti-Barry lines thrown in for good measure. I realize it’s anecdotal but I think it’s time for the Hillary crowd to be afraid, very afraid. The unwashed masses are finally rising up. They’re tired of arrogant elites lying to their faces and looting the treasury while at the same demanding their support at election time.
