Hawaii unemployment rate inches higher to 3.2 percent

Hawaii’s unemployment rate inched higher to a seasonally adjusted 3.2 percent in April.

The state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations said Friday the jobless rate rose from 3.1 percent the previous month.

Nationally, the unemployment rate was 5 percent in April, unchanged from March.

The department says the hospitality and education sectors added jobs while the professional and business services sector cut positions.
