Police officer assaulted while investigating incident in Kalihi

A 36-year-old man was arrested in the Kalihi area Friday afternoon after he allegedly assaulted a Honolulu Police Department officer, according to police records.
Police said the suspect assaulted the officer while the officer was investigating an unrelated incident just after 3 p.m.
While the officer was conducting his investigation, police said he also discovered that the suspect had recently shoplifted from a nearby store.
