Top-ranked Brigham Young extended its winning streak to 11 straight over No. 15 Hawaii when eliminating the Warriors from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament today in Provo, Utah.

MPSF freshman of the year Ben Patch put down a match-high 25 kills and MPSF player of the year Taylor Sander added 13 for the Cougars (23-4) in the 25-19, 20-25, 22-25, 25-12, 15-13 victory.

The eighth-seeded Warriors (11-17) got 18 kills from sophomore hitter Brook Sedore and 16 from sophomore Taylor Averill, who moved from middle to opposite for the quarterfinal. Sedore added four aces and Jace Olsen three.

Hawaii was poised to tie Set 5 at 14 but junior setter Joby Ramos was called for a questionable over-reach to end the match after 2 hours and 35 minutes.

The Cougars upped their series lead over the Warriors to 34-17, 21-3 in Smith Fieldhouse.

Hawaii was playing in its 14th five-setter of the year, a single-season program record. The Warriors finished 7-7 in five-setters, 1-4 on the road.
