Puna man charged with marijuana cultivation on 2 properties

A Puna man was charged Wednesday in connection with a marijuana-growing operation on two properties in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.

Edward Fuhrmann, 44, has been charged with two counts of first-degree promotion of marijuana, one count of attempted first-degree promotion of marijuana and three counts of possessing drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, police executed a search warrant at Fuhrmann’s home on H Street, where they recovered 145 marijuana plants growing outside and in a shed that had been converted into a growing room. They also recovered  more than three-quarters of a pound of dried marijuana from the shed and 13.32 pounds of dried processed marijuana packaged in 28 plastic bags from inside the house.

They also recovered 45 plants growing on a vacant lot on Eighth Avenue.

Fuhrmann was released after posting $36,000 bail.
