Council committee advances helmet bill for young skateboarders

The City Council Parks and Customer Services Committee Tuesday advanced Bill 62, requiring children under 16 to wear helmets while skateboarding or riding other wheeled objects.

A Honolulu Police Department official and city Parks Director Toni Robinson testified against the bill, which now goes to the full Council for the second of three needed approvals.
