Lightning sparks small brush fire in Lihue

Lightning caused a small brush fire in Lihue over the weekend. 

At about 6:40 p.m. Sunday, firefighters responded to the brush fire at a vacant lot behind Kawili Street near Vidinha Stadium. The fire was under control at about 7:15 p.m., according to a news release by the Kauai Fire Department. 

The blaze scorched less than a quarter-acre of wild grass. There was no damage to structures in proximity to the vacant lot. No injuries were reported.
