Colorado woman seriously hurt in surf along Na Pali Coast

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

A 35-year-old visitor from Colorado was seriously injured Saturday evening off the Na Pali Coast.

The woman reportedly injured her spine while swimming in the shore break at Honopu Beach around 5:45 p.m.

A tour boat operator notified the Coast Guard, which in turn notified Kauai police.

Fire rescue personnel airlifted the woman to Princeville Airport and released her to the care of paramedics, who then transported her to Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

It's not a good idea to be swimming on Na Pali at anytime or anywhere. But an observation like this falls on deaf ears.
