Prosecutors charged a 26-year-old Kaneohe Marine with allegedly stabbing his wife on Thursday morning.

Joshua McCray, a sergeant at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, is charged with second-degree assault, according to a criminal complaint filed in District Court on Monday.

McCray initially was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder at 6:40 a.m. on Thursday. The alleged incident occurred just after 6 a.m.

Officers arrested McCray at a Kamehameha Highway address in Kahaluu.

Emergency Medical Services said paramedics treated the woman for a small wound to her chest and took her in stable condition to the hospital.
