The Big Island and Maui will have an increased chance of showers Wednesday night. The rain, mostly in windward and mauka areas, could also spread to Oahu and Kauai Thursday.

Satellite images show a "blob of clouds east of the Big Island," said Maureen Ballard, a meterologist with the Honolulu office of the National Weather Service.

The rain clouds are likely to be blown over the Big Island and Maui, bringing a greater chance of rain to windward and mauka areas. Some showers could also cross the mountains to the leeward side.

Ballard said the rain is not likely to be too heavy, describing it as "enhanced trade wind showers."

Some of the moisture could also reach Oahu and, perhaps, Kauai on Thursday.

The weather will also be humid Wednesday and Thursday.

But the tradewinds, blowing at 10 to 15 mph, should keep the muggy weather from getting too uncomfortable, Ballard said.
