Pearl City band to appear in Chicago Thanksgiving parade

Pearl City High School’s marching  band will perform next week at the 81st McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago.

"The Pearl City High School "Charger" Marching Band is honored to participate in this prestigious event, which will allow us to share our aloha spirit with parade viewers from around the world," said Chad Kamei, director of bands at Pearl City High School. "We look forward to bringing the talent of our hardworking high school students to the national stage, and hope that our family and friends back at home join us by watching us live on the online broadcast," Kamei said in a press release.

The Pearl City band is the only one appearing from Hawaii, and its selections will include "Hawaiian War Chant" and "Mele Kelikimaka." The traveling group will include hula dancers from Halau Hula Olana.

The school’s marching band program has performed previously in the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade is scheduled for 8 to 11 a.m. CST and is also available for viewing online at http://www.chicagofestivals.org/broadcast-information. For more information about the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade, visit http://www.chicagofestivals.org.
