Man’s arm severed in Hanalei collision

HANALEI >> The driver of a Nissan Altima severed his arm in a car collision in Hanalei Friday night and was transported to Oahu for further treatment.

The man was traveling southbound on Kuhio Highway in Hanalei near mile marker 0.5 around 6:20 p.m. with his arm out of the window when he crossed the centerline and sideswiped a northbound vehicle. His arm was severed.

The man continued south and stopped at the Hanalei police substation.

He was taken to Wilcox Hospital and then airlifted to Oahu.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision also stopped at the police substation. He was not injured in the incident.
