Man, 24, injured in fall onto rocks in Mokulua Islands

Ocean Safety lifeguards rescued a 24-year-old man who fell about 25 feet to 30 feet onto rocks in the Mokulua Islands on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency Services Department spokeswoman Shayne Enright said in an email that at about 3 p.m. Ocean Safety rescue craft operators secured the patient to a sled and transported him to the Kailua Beach Park boat ramp, where Emergency Medical Services and fire personnel awaited.

Paramedics treated the man for a serious foot injury and abrasions to his hip, chest and arms.

He was taken to the trauma center in serious condition.

Ocean Safety advises against climbing or jumping off rocky areas in the islets, Enright said.
