Autopsy shows Salt Lake shooting was not homicide

A 72-year-man was found with a gunshot wound Friday in a house at 1490 Ala Leleu St. in Salt Lake. He was later pronounced dead. Neighbors said they heard two shots at about 5:30 a.m. The death has been classified as second-degree murder.

A shooting death in Salt Lake, initially investigatged as a possible homicide, has been reclassified as a suicide after an autopsy.

The medical examiner determined that 72-year-old Young Nam, died of a gunshot would to the torso Friday and classified the death as a suicide.

Nam was discovered at his Ala Leleu Street residence around 6 a.m. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police initially investigated the case as a second-degree murder, pending the outcome of the autopsy.
