Rains should ease, but not quite go away

Rains over Hawaii won’t quite go away, but are not expected to be as heavy as Wednesday.
Tradewinds will still be breezy, temperatures will be on the cool side, and more snow could fall on Mauna Kea.
Forecasters expect the sun to shine through the clouds in leeward areas Thursday morning as the weather system that brought Wednesday’s rains moves away. But scattered showers are still expected over windward and mauka sections and tradewinds of 15 to 20 mph, with higher gusts, may blow some of the rain over the mountains to leeward areas.
Temperatures will be cool with temperatures of 74 to 81 degrees during the day and lows of 64 to 74 degrees.

The cool weather is expected to continue through the weekend and temperatures may drop into the 60s, and into the 50s in some areas, at night Saturday and Sunday.
Another weather system could bring more showers and snow to Big Island summits on Sunday. The rains could spread west to other islands.
The forecast for Honolulu and south shores of Oahu calls for a 50-percent chance of rain, especially over Hawaii Kai and the southeastern end of the island, Thursday and Thursday night with northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts to 35 mph.
