Deadline extended to apply for position on state Ethics Commission

The state Judicial Council has extended the deadline to apply for a volunteer position on the state Ethics Commission.

The new application deadline is March 31 for the position which will fill a vacancy created by a term expiring on June 30, according to state Judiciary officials. The original deadline was March 13.

Applicants must be U. S. citizens, Hawaii residents and can not hold any other public office.

The five-member commission addresses ethical issues involving legislators, lobbyists, and state employees. The commission also investigates complaints, provides advisory opinions, and enforces decisions that it issues, according to the Judiciary.

Gov. David Ige will select the commissioner from a list of nominees submitted by the Council.

To apply, submit an application, a resume and three letters of recommendation by March 31, to: Judicial Council, Hawaii Supreme Court, 417 S. King St., 2nd Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813-2902.

Applications are available on the state Judiciary website — http://www.courts.state.hi.us — or by calling the Council at 539-4702.
