Bronson Sardinha, former Major League Baseball and Kamehameha Schools player, was arrested early Sunday morning at a Waipahu shopping center parking lot after he allegedly assaulted a police officer.
The incident occurred at 12:28 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Sardinha, 32, allegedly hit the 49-year-old officer, who was attempting to arrest the suspect.
No charges have been filed for the alleged assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, but the case is still pending before the prosecutor’s office.
Sardinha was being held for an outstanding warrant that was issued in August when he failed to appear for an arraignment on a harassment charge.
Sardinha played for the Yankees in 2007 and retired from minor league baseball in 2011.
