The University of Hawaii at Manoa will host the 2011 Indigenous Rights Symposium later this week. Magne Ove Varsi, a leader of the Sami indigenous peoples of Northern Europe, is due to speak Friday and Saturday on panels addressing self-determination, sustainability and land and natural resources.
