Timmy Richards homered and drove in four runs to lead No. 18 Cal State Fullerton to an 8-3 victory over Hawaii today to even the three-game series at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, Calif.

Richards and Ruben Cardenas connected on two-run homers in a five-run third inning for the league-leading Titans (33-17, 15-5 Big West) off Hawaii starter Alex Hatch.

Hatch (3-6) snapped a string of three straight no-decisions, allowing 11 hits and seven runs in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Hawaii (22-27, 11-12) ended a three-game winning streak and with the loss clinched a fourth consecutive losing season.

Freshman Ethan Lopez extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a solo home run and Marcus Doi and Kekai Rios each singled and scored for UH, which led 2-0 after two innings.

John Gavin (6-2) picked up the win, allowing three runs in six innings. He combined with two relievers to hold UH to five hits.

Fullerton improved to 29-0 when leading after six innings and 10-1 in the BWC at home with its only loss Friday against UH.

Hawaii will start junior Brendan Hornung (4-7, 3.32 ERA) in its final conference game of the season Sunday at 3 p.m. Hawaii time.
