Waianae’s Max Holloway cemented his status as one of the top contenders in the 145-pound division with a unanimous decision over Ricardo Lamas at UFC 199 tonight at The Forum in Los Angeles.

Holloway (16-3, 12-3 UFC), who is ranked No. 4 in the featherweight division, dominated the No. 5-ranked Lamas (16-5, 7-3).

He won by a 30-27 count on all three judges’ scorecards to earn his ninth straight win, which is the third-longest active streak in the UFC.

With the fight in hand, Holloway pointed to the canvas and spent the final 10 seconds exchanging haymakers with Lamas in a wild flurry to end the round.

“He gave me that look, like, ‘Let’s bang bro’,’” Holloway said. “So I let him bang.”

Holloway controlled the entire fight and stuffed every takedown attempt by Lamas.

According to UFC.com, Holloway landed 111 of 213 strikes and 103 of 205 significant strikes with two submission attempts.

Lamas landed 66 of 137 total strikes and 64 of 135 significant strikes.
