Sinisa "Siki" Zarkovic, a 6-4 sophomore outside hitter for No. 9 University of Hawaii, was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men’s Division I-II National Player of the Week on Tuesday after helping the Rainbow Warriors upset then-No. 2 BYU twice last weekend. 

This is the 19th time in program history a Hawaii player has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honors. The most recent was junior hitter Brook Sedore, who won it on March 4 earlier this year..

It was a huge weekend for the Rainbow Warriors, who moved from a two-way tie for eighth into a three-way tie for sixth place in the MPSF standings. The top eight teams will advance to next weeks’ MPSF tournament.

The first match of the home series on Friday was won by Hawaii in five sets with the Warriors winning the final three. With the Cougars on match point to go for the sweep in Set 3, Zarkovic pounded a kill to tie it at 24 and Hawaii went on to win 26-24. After a 12-kill, three-dig and three-block performance Friday, Zarkovic had a career match Saturday.  He notched his second career 20-plus kill match with a career-tying 22 while hitting at .410 with five digs and four blocks. That second match was played in front of the largest crowd of the season of 4,493 on senior night.
