A fire on the fifth floor of a condominium unit in Salt Lake caused an estimated $20,000 in damages.

The fire at the Kahana Kai condominium at 3020 Ala Napuaa St. took firefighters 10 minutes to control after receiving the dispatch at 12:20 p.m. today, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig.

Seelig said the fire occurred in the kitchen shortly after workers doing some finishing work left the condominium.

He said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
