Reno Velleses, the 36-year-old man shot and killed by police on Tuesday in Waianae, had methamphetamine in his system, the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office said today.

The Medical Examiner did not reveal the exact amount of methamphetamine in Velleses body.

He was shot by two Honolulu patrol officers after police said he swung a machete at one of them in the parking lot of the Waianae branch of First Hawaiian Bank.

The Medical Examiner reported that Velles died of a gunshot to the neck.
