A couple visiting the Big Island from Tenessee was held up at knifepoint while visiting a coffee processing company on Napoopoo Road yesterday afternoon, police said.

The 63-year-old man and his 58-year-old wife were walking on a tour path when two men in their early 20s confronted them at about 4 p.m. One suspect grabbed the woman from behind and threatened her with a knife, police said. The suspects demanded money from the couple and when the man said he didn’t have any, the second suspect hit him in the face, police said. The men fled with the woman’s purse and were seen driving away in an older-model red Honda Civic with gold rims.

One suspect is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 220 pounds. He was wearing  gray shorts and a white T-shirt. The other suspect is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a brown shirt.

The male victim was treated for his injuries at Kona Community Hospital and then released.
