Honolulu man identified as victim in diving accident
The Medical Examiner’s Office today identified the 45-year-old man who died after diving off the cliffs at Portlock in Hawaii Kai yesterday as Glenn Cooke of Honolulu.
The cause of death has not yet been determined.
A fire spokesman said the man had been jumping off the cliff area some 50 to 60 feet in the area of Spitting Caves when he did not resurface. His friends dove in after him, but could not find him.
Fire rescue personnel recovered the man some 30 to 40 feet underwater.
Cooke was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
