The ailing captain of the fishing vessel Pacific Blue was flown by a Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter to Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center at 11 a.m. today.

The captain was initially medically evacuated from his vessel 370 miles southwest of Honolulu at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to the Coast Guard cutter Rush. When the Rush was within 150 miles from Oahu today, the Barbers Point helicopter took off for Oahu.

His condition was not released.

The Coast Guard Command Center received a call Monday at 11:30 a.m. from the brother’s captain, who reported that the man was feeling ill and in need of immediate medical assistance.

The Pacific Blue was 820 nautical miles southwest of Oahu at the time of the initial report.
