FB Innovation will own and operate the Eggs ‘N Things restaurant at the Aston Waikiki Circle Hotel under a license agreement with ENT Holdings LLC. "TheBuzz" column on Page B2 yesterday identified the restaurant’s parent company as ENT Holdings.

Eggs ‘N Things is expanding into the Aston Waikiki Circle with its second location this fall.

FB Innovation will own and operate the Eggs ‘N Things restaurant at the Aston Waikiki Circle Hotel under a license agreement with ENT Holdings LLC.

"We’re extremely excited about it coming in. It’s a very popular restaurant, and we’re really happy to be able to have them fill the space," she said.

The restaurant’s targeted opening is the fall of this year but certainly "by the end of the year," she said.

There will be a waiting area out front, and the restaurant’s seating capacity should be about 50. Takeout service is a possibility, but that and other details such as the restaurant’s operating hours and whether it will provide room service for hotel guests have yet to be worked out. Restaurant officials could not be reached.

Eggs ‘N Things has had as storied a past as many of its late-night regulars since it opened in Waikiki in 1974, operating from 11 p.m. through 2 p.m. Its founders were Jerry and Jan Fukunaga.

The popular eatery promises, via its website, that its new location will boast a "magnificent view of the famous Waikiki Beach" as well as the same menu customers have flocked to enjoy for decades.

Eggs ‘N Things is a well-known favorite of locals and Japanese visitors and has won "favorite" and "best" awards from both constituencies.

It has had different homes during its life, beginning with 436 Ena Road. It relocated to 1911 Kalakaua Ave. in 1986. In 2001 it was closed by a day-after-Christmas fire that caused the evacuation of residential units upstairs.

Eggs ‘N Things took some 11 months to reopen, partially because of insurance complications and partly because of the death of then-owner Jan Fukunaga’s mother.

In the meantime she maintained medical and dental coverage for her employees. "They’re my family," she told the Star-Bulletin at the time.

That location closed at the end of August 2008, when it moved to its most recent home, 343 Saratoga Road. It is the base from whence Eggs ‘N Things is expanding and from whence it flings its well-known breakfast and newer, dinner-type fare from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 10 p.m. daily.
