A federal jury in Honolulu convicted a 31-year-old Arizona man of drug charges Wednesday.

Gabriel Ruiz Salcedo was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and attempted possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

U.S. Attorney Florence T. Nakakuni says Salcedo faces a mandatory term of life imprisonment without parole because of prior felony drug convictions for offenses committed in Arizona.

According to prosecutors, 3.5 pounds of methamphetamine was found in a parcel sent to Hawaii from Arizona in February.

They say the meth was removed and the parcel was delivered to its destination, eventually winding up in Salcedo’s apartment in Waikiki.
