Shawn Lu took seventh in the Boys 10-11 division to lead Hawaii qualifiers at the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships, which ended Monday at PGA National Resort and Spa, in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Lu shot rounds of 80-78–73 for a 231 total and finished 16 strokes out of first. Kyosuke Hara, also from Honolulu, tied for 11th at 78-81-76–235.
Moanalua High’s Eimi Koga (74-71-83–228) tied for ninth in the Girls 14-15s, with Lisa Kang (80-74-79–233) tying for 15th.
A week earlier, at the Oahu Junior Golf Association’s Pearl Junior Open, Lu shot a final-round 72 and finished second, two shots behind Sian Rogers (77–151) in the Boys 11-12s. Kang (82–158) won the Girls 13-14s by three shots.
