Neighbors helped rescue a 17-year-old girl who was kidnapped and beaten during a domestic argument Thursday in Kailua, according to Honolulu police.

A 17-year-old boy punched and kicked the girl inside a house about 11:35 a.m., police said. When the girl tried to leave, the boy allegedly dragged her back in and held her against her will, taking her cell phone when she tried to call for help.

Neighbors called 911 after hearing the girl’s screams for help.

The boy ran away before police arrived and is wanted on suspicion of kidnapping, abuse, and interfering with reporting a crime.
