A headphone headband brings music to the ears of runners
Those who enjoy running or walking while listening to music often find it becomes a safety issue. "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Rock Lobster" are perfect for tuning out the worries of the world but, unfortunately, traffic noise is tuned out as well.
Tired of taking out the ear buds to converse or to make sure that wasn’t a siren behind you? The solution is less than a month old.
"RunPhones" is a type of washable headphones that doubles as a headband. Made of Polartec PowerDry mesh fabric, it is available in three colors and three sizes, and is compatible with most portable music players, including the iPhone and iPod touch.
The padded speakers are adjustable and easily removed when it’s time to toss the headband into the wash and then the dryer. The summer version of RunPhones is ideal for Hawaii’s climate and, if you travel to colder climes for snow sports, there is a winter version made with thick fleece.
The summer version is $39.95 ($5 shipping) and comes with a cord and stereo plug for music players. The company offers complimentary size exchanges.
RunPhones, which debuted Sept. 1, currently is only available online at RunPhones.com and Amazon.com.
