Octoberfest comes early in Chinatown. The Octoberfest Street Festival is set for 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, along Hotel, King and Nuuanu streets.

The festival is free and will include music, dance, Bavarian cuisine and games.

Food will be served from 6 p.m. Expect bockwurst, bratwurst, pretzels and sauerkraut, alongside jambalaya, chicken mole, cheesecake and even Hungarian chimney cake.

Live music will run from 7 to 10 p.m. on the main stage at Hotel Street, at the same time as the competitions on the King Street stage. Among the games will be stein-hoisting, yodel competition, prettiest fraulein and the lederhosen barrel lift.

Music will include live Celtic rock from the Doolin Rakes, Dita Holifield’s band Red Handed, DeShannon Higa and the funky Family Dinner. A circus performer and other European-style street artists will roam the crowd.

Attendees will be carded and $3 wristbands will be required to buy alcoholic beverages.
