SEAFOOD FESTIVAL AT TURTLE BAY: If you’re without weekend plans, the sixth annual event opens at 6:30 p.m. today, under the stars at Kuilima Point. Hungry diners can get a "Taste of the North Shore Shrimp Trucks"; barbecue skewers, side dishes and desserts from Turtle Bay Resort; Hawaii microbrews; and a silent auction to benefit the Kahuku Bookmobile Project. Admission is $40. The event continues tomorrow with the Sam Choy Poke Challenge beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Kahuku Ballroom. Admission is $25. The event closes with "Chefs Under the Stars," from 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at Kuilima Point, with six North Shore chefs serving some of their best dishes at food stations, wine samplings and music by the Ka’ala Boys. GARLIC FEST IS BACK: Auntie Pasto’s celebrates the pungent bulb through a series of dishes from appetizers to desserts from Monday through Oct. 31. The menu will feature such a la carte selections as escargot in roasted garlic butter, spaghetti "Aglio & Olio" with chili pepper Kahuku shrimp, Square-Pants pizza with homemade mozzarella and roasted garlic, and mussels with garlic and vermouth over angel-hair pasta. Daily dinner specials will also be available from 5 p.m., including green garlic ravioli on Tuesdays, whole Dungeness crab with garlic butter on Fridays, garlic-roasted prime rib on Saturdays, and veal osso buco with garlic gremolata on Sundays. Garlic ice cream for dessert can continue the theme, or you can go the opposite route and choose a palate-freshening mint gelato. Auntie Pasto’s is at 1099 S. DITCH HAWAIIAN TIME: Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa has introduced Halona Kai Martini Lounge, with a martini happy hour from 4 to 10 p.m. nightly, with selections from a prix fixe martini list, with prices tied to the hour and increasing a dollar every 60 minutes. Earlier mo’ betta considering those libations will start at $4 at 4 p.m., $5 at 5 p.m., etc., till closing at 10 p.m. Call 661-1234.
